The Elmore Field Days Shearing Shed is partnering once again with Shearing for Kids with Cancer.
The 12th annual Shearing for Kids with Cancer Day at Corydon Shearing Shed in Wanalta raised a record-breaking $103,977.84 for My Room Children’s Cancer Charity this year.

Hundreds gathered to support the cause on Friday, July 31, as 25 volunteer shearers kept the clippers buzzing inside the shed, shearing 440 sheep.
About 25 other volunteers worked alongside them, picking up fleeces, sweeping the floor and classing wool, all donating their time and skills to support the cause.
Event organiser Katrina Ogden said there were 10 active shearing stands in operation, with shearers taking turns throughout the morning.
“The boys started shearing at 7.30am, but everyone would have been at the shed before 7am to make sure everything was set up and ready to go for the day,” Katrina said.
“We had a bit of a chat around the fire, just to say thanks to the workers before everyone else arrived for the day.”
The pace inside the shed was remarkable, with most of the 440 sheep shorn before morning smoko.
Now, Katrina and her family will bring the cause to the Elmore Field Days Shearing Shed for the second year, where they will shear sheep and share more about the charity that means so much to them.
“If anyone has any questions to do with our shearing day, I’m more than happy to let people know all about it,” Katrina said.
“My husband and I go to the field days every year. It’s a great family day out and we are looking forward to being back in the shed again this year.
“Come say hi and hear about the amazing charity we support that helps kids with cancer and their families get through really tough times.”
