Burra Foods lifts milk price

Burra Foods has announced an increase in its farm gate milk price of 10₵/kg milk solids for the full season period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

Burra Foods chief executive Stewart Carson said despite still dealing with COVID-19, global markets were rebounding from earlier impacts and there was growing demand for high-quality dairy ingredients.

“South-East Asia and China continue to provide opportunities for Burra. In-market inventory levels in some of these countries are low due to growing consumption and supply chain disruptions, so we expect demand to remain strong in the foreseeable future,” Mr Carson said.

“Limited global supply growth continues to provide opportunities to leverage the capability of our factory and maximise value from milk solids.

“Our challenge remains navigating through the volatility of global shipping and COVID-19 lockdowns, but our long-term partnerships with service providers has helped enormously,” he said.

Burra Foods was optimistic about the year ahead.

“Over the past 12 months, we’ve delivered significant improvements in productivity and quality with targeted business development activities, which are now being commercialised.

“As we realise the benefits of this hard work, I expect to finish the FY22 season well and head into FY23 in a strong position to retain and grow milk supply.”
