Goulburn Murray Community Leadership is seeking sponsorship to support the 2025 Canberra Advocacy Tour, an annual component of its Fairley Leadership Program.
The tour provides participants with an opportunity to engage with federal members of parliament and policymakers in Canberra, aiming to present regional issues and priorities on a national platform. It is planned for September and estimated to cost $2500 per participant, which is not included in the program’s standard fees.
GMCL is aiming to raise at least $10,000 to reduce costs and make the tour more accessible. The organisation is encouraging businesses, community partners and individuals to contribute either through direct financial sponsorship or by sponsoring individual participants.
“The Canberra tour is one of the most impactful components of the Fairley Leadership experience,” GMCL executive officer Jesse Mitchell said.
“It helps build the skills, networks and confidence our regional leaders need to influence change in their communities and across our region.”
In addition to the 2025 cohort, participants from the 2020, 2021 and 2022 programs, who were unable to attend due to COVID-19, have been invited to submit an expression of interest.
The total cost of delivering the tour in previous years has been approximately $35,000. GMCL says the funding will help ensure participation from leaders across more than 15 communities and sectors in the Goulburn Murray region.
