Wise, who has toured nationally and internationally, is celebrated for her heartfelt lyrics and melodies. The singer-songwriter, who hails from central Victoria, has a strong focus on love, healing and our relationship with the environment in her music.
At the 2021 Music Victoria Awards, Wise was nominated for Best Folk Act.
Taking place over the last weekend of May, the Shared Sky Songwriting Workshops are for people of all ages and with different levels of experience.
Strathbogie Shire arts and culture officer Kobe Pallis is excited about the opportunity the workshops will provide for residents to meet others who are passionate about music.
“The workshop is an introduction to the art of songwriting for curious minds and an opportunity to enhance community connection across the shire,” Ms Pallis said.
“Lucy will share insights into the songwriting process, how to develop ideas from seed to song, and maintain a sense of flow through the process.”
Ms Pallis said the workshops would inspire the future creation of “a community folk anthem of sorts”.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Laura Binks said the Shared Sky project was created based on community consultations which set objectives for council’s arts and culture strategy.
“The Shared Sky workshops — and any future event in this project — aim to connect people of all ages across the shire, encourage collaboration, sharing and developing skills, and support our facilities with arts and culture activities and events,” Cr Binks said.
The first Shared Sky Songwriting Workshop will be held on Saturday, May 28, at Nagambie Lakes Community House from 2pm to 5pm. Afternoon team will be provided. To book, visit https://tinyurl.com/SongNagambie
