The Stranger Things star adopted a baby girl with her husband Jake Bongiovi earlier in 2025 but has stressed she is determined to protect the child's privacy during her formative years.
"For me, it's really important to protect her and her story until she's old enough to potentially one day share it herself," Brown told British Vogue magazine.
"It's not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly. If she chooses to share her personality one day with the world, like I did when I was young, that's something we'd support.
"But right now, as she's so little. As he parents, it's our job to protect her from that."
The final season of Stranger Things premieres later in November, and Brown compared filming her closing scenes as Eleven to a bereavement.
"It's like the death of someone you love," she said.
"I was 10 when I started, so this is like a family to me; not just the cast, not just the crew, but the entity of Stranger Things."
Brown recalled how she and co-stars including Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp and Sadie Sink were moved to tears as they read the script for the final episode of the Netflix show, which will air on December 31.
"We were all each other knew. We just huddled and cried for five minutes straight," the Electric State star said.
