The Hollywood actor was seen sitting next to the pop singer as she cheered on her new husband Travis Kelce, whose team took on the Denver Broncos in Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday.
The Mission: Impossible star explained Swift was talking him through the game as his football knowledge is a bit rusty.Â
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host asked him: "When the biggest movie star in the world is sitting next to the biggest artist in the world, what do you talk about?"
Cruise then explained: "She was schooling me on football - for real. She was bringing the football. First of all, she's a genius. I've been following her since she was a kid. Everybody there, all their friends, they're a beautiful couple and magical in their own right, and everybody there in that booth.
"I hadn't been to a football game since pre-COVID, where I was working and everything. So to get to hang out there and have that moment, it was a lot. She knows her stuff."
Swift previously admitted she did not know much about football until she started dating NFL player Travis and Cruise revealed the singer had spoken to him about being taught the rules by her now-husband.
Cruise - who was among the famous faces invited to Swift and Kelce's lavish wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City in July - said: "She knew nothing about football when she met Travis ... She said: 'He's so patient'. I said: 'I'm sure he was.' I think everybody would be very patient (with her) ... She knows (now)."
The movie star said the pair also talked about movies and music during the game and he enjoys her sense of humour.
He said of Swift: "She's so funny. She's got such a great sense of humour. A brilliant writer also, by the way. Brilliant musician and director. Very skilled."
