Shooters taste event success

Seymour Field and Game in Avenel held its monthly shoot on Saturday, honouring a man who championed junior shooters.

A total of 137 competitors took part in the 75-target Barney Baines Memorial , which is held in memory of a man who loved to help all shooters, especially the juniors.

The winners of the Barney Baines award were Chris Tingay, who won the overall hcp event, junior Timothy Micallef and sub-junior Zayne Papaluca.


AA-grade: Luke Willemsen 71, Greg Morey 71cb, Travis Tait 67.

A-grade: Mark Carlson 71, Ricky Bilney 69, Mark Stuchbree 68.

B-grade: Nick Carlson 68, Milan Bokic 67, Heath Doyle 66.

C-grade: Paul Hilderbrand 71, Andrew Woodhams 64, Rob Kirkman 59.

Women: Nikki Rees 65, Beatrice Hart 63, Fiona Morey 59.

Veterans: Graham Clark 68, Vaughan Ruddick 63, Rod Berger 62.

Juniors: Tim Micallef 63, Eddie Perry 58, Logan Baker 56.

Sub-juniors: Zayne Papaluca 70, Noah Hilderbrand 66, Liam Rachele 61.

The club also had a wonderful turnout at its recent firearms safety course and come and try day, where 65 people sat the test to obtain their firearms permit, enjoyed a barbecue lunch and had a try at clay target shooting. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out on the day.

The next event will be held on Saturday, August 3, and is a 75-target off the gun competition. All welcome.
