This year we welcomed a new principal, Wayne Smith, to St Mary’s.
Mr Smith was principal of a Prep-10 college in Cootamundra before moving to Melbourne some time ago.
He came to St Mary’s after being deputy principal of Padua College in Rosebud.
Mr Smith brings a wealth of experience to St Mary’s College and has settled in well to life in Seymour.
This term we have had many learning experiences, faith opportunities and community events. These photographs show just some of these activities:
■ Induction of our new college leaders, class captains and SRC representatives;
■ STEM activities afternoon where the whole school engaged in a wide range of STEM-related challenges;
■ Buddy groups, in which junior classes are matched with senior classes and participate in art, music, sport and science activities;
■Languages experiences — Years 9 and 10 students visit the Indonesian film festival and also host international visitors to Puckapunyal;
■ Mentor program, in which staff are mentors to the Year 10 students and celebrate with a morning tea each term;
■ Fundraising for Project Compassion as well as flood and bushfire appeals;
■ Sporting events such as college and district swimming and athletics events;
■ And our major fundraiser for the year, our first St Mary’s Colour Fun Run — and what a great success it was!
Thank-you to all of our families, students and staff for a fabulous first term.
