Kmart Hub is a smaller version of the retail giant and opened in Seymour on July 30 at the former Target Country site.
It comes as a part of a changeover actioned by Wesfarmers, following its May announcement that more than 100 Target stores nationwide would be closed and reopened under the Kmart banner.
Kmart Australia and New Zealand retail director John Gualtieri said his team we’re excited to introduce Seymour to the K hub store.
“Think of it as Kmart experience a little closer to home. A place where good things really do come in smaller packages,” he said.
“Things may look a little different to what you’d expect from a Kmart today. We’ve given the store a ‘light touch’ make over for now, so that we’re not inconveniencing the community with a long store closure.
“Our priority is getting the store up and running so that the people of Seymour still have access to the products they need.
“But keep an eye out; we have big plans to evolve the look and feel of this store over time. For now, we’ve taken our most popular Kmart products across kids, home and clothing and brought them to life in a new way. A curated collection inspired for a smaller format store, with bigger convenience in mind.
“You’ll be welcomed into store with some familiar faces. We’ve successfully retained 13 of our Target team members and redeployed them into the Kmart family.”
Mr Gualtieri said K hub customers will have the ability to shop Kmart and Target’s full product range online and have items delivered straight to their door, or they can visit the store and collect items with no additional shipping cost.
“We’ll be extending this service later in the year to include our friends at Catch, so think of K hub as your one-stop-shop for all your favourite Kmart, Target and Catch products,” he said.
“We’re so excited to bring this new store to life, but the health and safety of our customers and team members is our number one priority in Seymour.
“Customers and team members are now required to wear a face covering. We’ve made this a condition of entry into our store.
“We appreciate your support and ask that you also please maintain 1.5m physical distancing when you pop in and visit us.”
