Yarrawonga 39 defeated by Myrtleford 44
The Pigeons were stunned by Myrtleford in the netball match of the round with the Saints defeating Yarrawonga for the first time in fifteen years.
The Saints’ 44-40 win was without arguably the league’s best player Sophie Hanrahan. Scores were level at halftime until the Saints found another gear to stun the top placed Pigeons.
B Grade
Yarrawonga 50 defeated Myrtleford 32
A great hit out against a strong and smart Myrtleford in warm finals like conditions.
Eliana and Maddie were unstoppable in the goal ring and were fed precisely by Em and Caity O through the midcourt.
Jac and Georgie applied pressure at the line allowing for the intercepts to come through Annalise and Amy.
Chloe was thrown in both ends this week and proved her versatility. Fantastic team win and the girls are looking forward to the lead up to finals.
C Grade
Yarrawonga 42 defeated Myrtleford 35
Yarrawonga C Grade girls had a good win on the weekend 42-35 against Myrtleford. It was always going to be a tough game and the Pigeons girls stayed consistent throughout the entire game.
The defenders were strong and with some handy turnovers were able to get the win.
Everyone played their role really well and Myrtleford made Yarrawonga work for it. The awards went to Kirby Holmquest and Alisha Leslie.
Under 17s
Yarrawonga 61 defeated Myrtleford 29
Convincing win on a great day, the girls doubled the margin since the last time they encountered the Saints indicating significant improvement across the board.
Morgan McRae and Steph Sutcliffe continue to blanket the opposition shooters, creating plenty of opportunities for turnovers.
Brooke Noonan and Annabel Hart created a nightmare for the wing attack, with their defensive pressure and hands over the ball allowing for even more tips and intercepts.
Mylah Kennedy and Mikyah Frauenfelder controlled the ball with ease, feeding the ball into Matilda Jaques who continues to grow in confidence under the ring, shooting 43 this week.
Savannah Lewis and Mia Wheaton used dynamic movements to get the ball down the court quickly from the defensive end into the attacking end.
The girls face Corowa this Sunday and are hoping to win the next few games for a crack at finals.

Under 15s
Yarrawonga 10 defeated by Myrtleford 55
A depleted Yarrawonga took on an impressive Myrtleford team on Pigeon turf. The 1st quarter score of 19 to 1 was tough, but all credit to the littlest Pigeons. They kept their spirits high and due to some great defensive pressure and strong drives, narrowed Myrtleford’s score conversion as each quarter went on.
Each girl put in 100% effort, 100% of the time. Regardless of the scoreboard, these girls are an asset to the Pigeons brand.
The Under 15s look forward to playing in Corowa next Sunday afternoon.
