The three-year-old filly picked up her first career win following a ding-dong duel down the straight with outside chance Diamond Effort.
The long shot maybe just got a nose in front at the 150m mark but a stride later jockey Daniel Stackhouse got her to lift a gear to fight it off, then another to actually pull away on the line.
At which point Diamond Effort suddenly veered alarmingly across the track with SA super jockey Jamie Kah battling to avoid being pitched into the fence along the mounting yard.
Blonde Disposition, then short-priced favourite, led from go to whoa with the challenge expected to come from the next best backed First Tier, which was on the pace all the way.
But when Blonde Disposition and Diamond Effort made their effort, First Tier proved a little second tier and faded into third.
The David Brideoake stable representative Alex Woodhams said the horse really dug deep in the straight when it counted.
He said when she put her head in front at the 50m mark she really showed she wanted to win.
‘‘She could have been tired and given in, and going forward once she learns to relax a bit more we think she will do very well,’’ Woodhams said.
‘‘She looked quite comfortable in the race, especially as there wasn’t a lot of tempo, and if she could get into a race with a bit more speed and she could tuck in behind one.
‘‘She certainly looked to travel well and you can’t do anything about a slow pace.’’
Woodhams said they would quietly take her through the grades and hopefully work up to midweek level.
Stackhouse said the horse jumped really well, was quite comfortable cruising along in front, and was running with ear muffs today.
‘‘They helped make her relaxed because she can get over-racing,’’ he said.
‘‘She hit the top of the straight in a good place but she’s still on one rein as she is very raw and green, and with a bit of maturity there is a lot of upside there.
‘‘She has been running over longer distances and that would have helped with today’s run over 1200 and let her tough it out late.
‘‘I think she will improve a lot from this run and it will give her confidence.’’
