The social night was again successful last week, with raffle prizes going to Dot Dillon, Ian Ridd and Garry Broderick.
A reminder to club members of our expo parking venture on Friday, February 15 and Sunday, February 17. No parking at the club premises on those two days, unless members are prepared to pay $5 for a spot.
In the Goulburn Valley midweek pennant round 13, division one played against Shepp Park at Shepparton had a win by nine shots, 14-74 to 2-65.
Division three played at home against Murchison to win all three rinks by 32 shots, 16-83 to 0-51.
Division five played a draw against Mooroopna Golf 7-50 each.
In the Central Bowls District, division one Seymour travelled to Eildon to keep up their winning form by defeating the home side 16-92 to 0-48.
In the Goulburn Valley round 13 weekend pennant, division one played at Stanhope, who were too good for Seymour, losing all four rinks 0-73 to 18-105.
Division five hosted Mooroopna at Seymour, winning two rinks and drawing the third — 15-80 to 1-55.
Division seven went to Avenel and came home with another win, 14-59 to 0-35.
In the Central Bowls Division round 14, division one Seymour played at home against Yea, winning a rink, losing one and drawing the other, but lost the game 3-55 to 13-75.
Division two were also to play Yea, who forfeited to Seymour.
Avenel
For the third week in a row the division four weekend pennant side turned the tables on its higher placed opponents; the latest victim being Hilltop on whose green the Avenel side was able to get 16 points out of a possible 18.
Perhaps a case of too little too late for this side although it may be causing some headaches for its opponents.
Unhappily the division seven side wasn’t able to emulate this success going down to Seymour on Saturday.
In the midweek pennant there hasn’t been much success of late — make that nearly all season.
Division two went to Shepparton Park where they played on the synthetic green under cover and came away lamenting some lost opportunities, mainly unable to match the overall ability of their hosts.
Division five travelled to Dookie and came home winless.
Club competitions continue and are fast nearing finals. A date for your diary: Sunday, April 7 has been earmarked as the day we play against Violet Town. Watch this space and the club noticeboard for more details.

Chicken Run bowls continues every Sunday at 10am for members and non-members. Come along wearing flat soled shoes, bowls will be provided.
Seymour VRI
In the midweek pennant, Seymour VRI travelled to Yea and, after an unexpected loss to Seymour, the team were expecting a win to consolidate second position on the ladder that resulted in a good win, taking two of the three rinks and 29 shots up overall. Seymour VRI 14-88 def. Yea 2-59.
Daniel Noonan’s rink started steadily while only two shots up at the 12th end, progressed to be 12 shots up at the 19th end and then winning the last five ends finished with a 23-shot winning margin.
Joe Purcell’s rink being 10 shots up at the 11th end, competed with the opposition being seven shots up at the 20th end, winning three more ends finished with an 11-shot winning score.
Bill Dawe’s rink in a close encounter held the lead until the 14th end when the opposition took the lead at the 15th end and held it for the remainder of the game resulting in a five-shot deficit at the end of the game.

In Saturday pennant, the final home and away pennant games for the Central Bowls have been completed and both of the Seymour VRI teams have finished in top position for division one and in second position for division two, giving both a double chance in the first week of the finals.
Division one travelled to Alexandra winning two of the three rinks by on overall score of 10 shots. Seymour VRI 14-76 def. Alexandra 2-66.
Division two hosted Alexandra at the Seymour VRI green on a cooler afternoon after some rain fell during the morning, winning all three rinks by a massive 53 shots overall, finishing in second position on the ladder. Seymour VRI 16-103 def. Alexandra 0-50.
The Goulburn Valley division seven team had another bye and will play another two home and away games before the GV finals.
On Saturday, Central Bowls Division teams will play their semi-finals with Seymour VRI Division One team playing Wallan at Yea and the division two team playing Kilmore at Broadford.
The division seven Goulburn Valley team placed third on the ladder will travel to Kyabram for a must-win game to hold their finals position and still have a chance to pick up their previous second position on the ladder.
