Rotary appeal going strong

By Yarrawonga Chronicle

The Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala has already donated $7500 to the district’s bushfire appeal.

The donations are going towards such things as back to school packs for all children and families attending the Corryong P-12 and Catholic Schools to allow a hassle-free beginning to the school year, and to support the newsagent.

Donations have also gone towards a local business-woman who lost fencing, animals, fodder and an old farmhouse.

Other support includes the supply and distribution of hay and other fodder for stock, materials for volunteer teams to repair and replace fencing, supplying meals for volunteers, air purifiers in the Mt Beauty, Bright and Myrtleford hospitals and delivering shipping containers as temporary storage.

The Rotary District Bushfire Committee is currently visiting the affected areas and has also earmarked the following areas of need:

Re-greening, particularly replacement of fruit trees;

Replacement or decontamination of water tanks.
