After winning the toss and batting first at Yea Recreation Reserve, the Eagles fell to 3-10 early in their innings.
But spirited efforts from Brayden Speechley (66), Matt Collard (43) and Oliver Bryant (42 not out) lifted the outfit to 5-169 from its 45 overs.
Andrew Chisholm was undoubtedly the star of the show with the ball for the Tigers, snaring 4-17 from his nine overs.
Yea lost consistent wickets in the chase, and despite solid knocks from Nathan Beattie (74) and Leo Halford-Molinaro (36 not out) fell three runs short of parity at the end of the 45th over.
Four Eastern Hill bowlers claimed two wickets apiece, with Ben Bryant (2-14 from nine) the best of the bunch.
Over at Tallarook Recreation Reserve, the home side was bowled out for just 150 against Broadford.
Cameron Muir made 72 from 87 deliveries at the top of the order to provide a solid backbone for the innings, whacking two sixes and 10 fours across the knock.
Jack Connell and Taylor Shell both took three wickets apiece for Broadford.
While none of the visitors were able to pile on a big score in the chase, six batters made at least 16 to steer Broadford home with two wickets in hand and almost 10 overs to spare.
Lachlan Watts (4-35) starred with the ball for Tallarook.
In the other A-grade fixture of the round, Kilmore put together an imposing 9-186 from its 45 overs thanks largely to Dale Tassone’s run-a-ball 67.
Daniel McLarty managed 4-31 from his nine overs for Seymour, including three maidens.
The Lions struggled in the chase, though, and at one stage were 7-58.
A rearguard action from Regan Kirby (34) and Damian Murphy (15) put up some resistance before the side was eventually all-out for 101.
Brett and Josh Buttler took three wickets apiece for Kilmore.
Heading into the festive season break, Eastern Hill sits undefeated atop the table, closely followed by Broadford with one loss.
Kilmore, Tallarook, Yea and Seymour make up the remainder of the ladder.
Seymour, Puckapunyal, Eastern Hill and Alexandra were the winners at the weekend in B-grade SDCA action.
Headlining the round with the ball was Avenel’s Jamie Kanters, who claimed 6-12 from nine overs against Seymour.
Alexandra’s Shane Parker made 90 to be the star of the round with the bat.
In C-grade, Broadford, Eastern Hill, Kilmore Blue and Pyalong claimed wins.
