Numurkah trailed by as many as six goals inside the final term, but the current fifth-placed outfit found a second wind when it mattered most to avoid surrendering all points available to a surprise Cobram packet on Saturday.
Goals from Numurkah’s Abby Commadeur commanded an early lead but Cobram would level the scores at nine-apiece at the first change of ends.
The Tigers would then exit the huddle firing, making sharp passes and finding their goalers in tight by the hoop, Cobram racing out to a five-point advantage at half time as Aimee Sidebottom and Brianna Armitage got to work.
After the main break, Numurkah would match Cobram’s enthusiasm for an upset, but would not break the deadlock of a five-goal deficit heading into the final term - but fortunately for the Blues in the last, its finals-level quality would come to the fore to salvage two points.
Trailing by six goals with 12 minutes left, Emily Buzza and Shanae McPherson would combine for four goals unanswered across the next six minutes of play to heave life into the Blues.
The Tigers and Blues exchanged goals again to maintain the two-goal margin, before the Blues pairing worked in tandem again to level the scores in the 58th minute.
With less than two minutes remaining, Cobram’s Armitage nearly shot the winner, but virtually at the final whistle, McPherson swished the netball through and sealed a Murray League A-grade classic for a 34-34 draw.
Around the MNL courts, Mulwala took home the four premiership points against Congupna after a 27-64 win, Deniliquin defeated Finley 27-52, and Moama won over nearby rivals Echuca United 43-66.
