Competition numbers have remained strong, despite some cool conditions.
On Saturday there was a single stableford and Terry Howe showed excellent course knowledge to win A grade with 37 points, on countback to Kerran Leetham.
The Suttons dominated in B grade, where Keanu had the excellent score of 43 points to win comfortably from Hugh with 37, and in C grade the ladies were in control, with Anita Gorsuch defeating Jayne Hood on countback, both scoring 38 points.
Last Thursday the ladies played a stableford event and the A grade winner was Jane Armytage with 36 points from Marg Rothwell 34, and in B grade Glenda Campbell scored 39 to win on countback to Sue Butcher.
In Wednesday’s men’s stableford event captain John Radeski scored 38 points to win A grade from runner-up Daryl Nalder 36, and in B grade Des Ramsey had 37 to win by a shot to Anthony Erickson.
The 2022 Winter Classic is just over a week away on the Queen’s Birthday weekend. This popular fourball best ball event is sponsored by MRT Spraying, Riverina Watermatic and Cleaner Carpets.
There will be 18 hole events on both Saturday and Sunday, plus the 36 hole overall trophies. Entry forms are available at the club or on the website.
Capping off a big weekend of golf will be the MND Big Freeze charity day on Monday, June 13.
This is four person ambrose for men’s, ladies and mixed teams; 8.30am registration for 9.30am shotgun start. Cost is $200 per team which includes the coveted MND beanie, or $250 including an after-golf hamper pack. Entry forms are available in the pro shop.
Tomorrow is a stroke event and the men’s monthly medal, sponsored by Central IGA. During the week the ladies will play their 9 hole competition on Tuesday, it’s men’s stableford on Wednesday and ladies stableford on Thursday.
Don’t forget Friday Night Fun tonight, with raffle tickets on sale from 6pm and draws from 7.30pm. Excellent meals available at a reasonable price.
