With the Dockers based in Queensland for the early part of the AFL resumption, Mundy had 13 touches and three tackles as Fremantle went down by two goals at the Gabba despite a late charge towards victory.
It was almost a mirror-image of Fremantle's round one loss to Essendon - which Mundy missed due to a fractured leg - when the side fell just a goal short of parity after trailing for most of the match.
The coronavirus lockdown since then has allowed Mundy's leg to heal, giving a silver lining to isolation for the veteran.
“It was a bit strange, Alex Pearce, Nathan Wilson and myself were scrambling in the last three weeks to tick off our KPIs and hopefully be ready for round two,” Mundy told Perth Now this month.
“The extra eight weeks have been a bit of a godsend for a few of us and now we’re all up and about and healthy and ready to go.
“We've got a pretty healthy group at the moment, which will mean we’ve got a lot of different guys floating through a number of different positions.
“(For me), I think it will be a continuation of previous years gone by, majority midfield and rotating through the forward line.
“I've been preparing this preseason to play midfield minutes and I think I’m in physically a good position to do that.”
Fellow Seymour products Tom Cole and Josh Schache did not play for West Coast and the Western Bulldogs respectively at the weekend, but after both outfits suffered heavy defeats, they will be keen to push their cases for round three.
