Competition-leader Broadford secured a commanding victory over Royals on Saturday, with several players starring.
Taking to Harley Hammond Reserve, Broadford raced to 5-248 in 45 overs, with opening pair Aaron Gleeson (72) and Connor Stute (68) setting the stage, while Mitch Collier chipped in with a handy 38 runs.
When it came time to attack, it was Broadford’s Mark Moran (5-16) who picked apart the Royals, who were dismissed for 106.
It was a similar story in Avenel’s win over Yea, as the Tigers failed to compete with Avenel's influence with the bat.
With Avenel skipper Jack Hesse electing to bat first, his side put together a stirring performance to reach 265.
Will Wheeler was in fine form with 69 runs, while Bailey Clark joined him high on the scoreboard with 59.
Max Jones scored a solid 39, while Hesse added another 31 runs before being dismissed leg before wicket.
Yea’s Aidan McSpeerin and Derek Troy-West worked tirelessly to break Avenel, taking three wickets apiece.
But when it came time to chase, Yea couldn’t muster up the runs required, finishing the game on 9-92.
A personal best score of 85 not out for Alexandra batsman Jacob Bourke has seen his side romp home to a seven-wicket victory over Puckapunyal.
Puckapunyal won the toss but elected to send Alexandra to the crease of Leckie Park, where the home side posted an indomitable 3-248.
Despite being in a strong position early at 3-91, Puckapunyal suffered a major batting collapse to lose the rest of its wickets for just 16 runs and finish with 107.
In another dominant display, travelling Pyalong outperformed Tallarook to take home the points by nine wickets.
As Tallarook set out to post a big score, Kieran Chapman (40) admirably led his side to 7-141 by the end of the 45 overs.
But the scoreline was no trouble for Pyalong, with opening pair Sean Walsh (54) and Gavin Thomson (55) making light work of the first wicket to get the home side to 103 before Walsh was caught.
Coming in at three, Pete Campbell (23) ran alongside Thomson to cap victory.
● In C-grade action, a brilliant all-round performance from Seymour’s Cam Kirby has seen the Maroons hold their place at the top of the ladder with a win over cross-town rival Eastern Hill.
Kirby’s unbeaten 85 helped Seymour to 6-177 in 40 overs, with the batsman combining with Michael Woldhuis (37) and Reg Kirby (23).
Kirby followed it up in attack, taking 3-23, as well as two catches in the field, as the Eagles (9-93) were defeated.
In a battle between town rivals, Broadford Black took out bragging rights over Broadford Red with a seven-wicket victory.
In front of supporters at Broadford Secondary College, Black won the toss before sending Red in to bat.
Led by bowler Bryce Fleming (3-6), Black was able to keep Red quiet, dismissing the side for 84.
Black finished the match off strongly with the bat, as Michael Mirabella (40) steered his side to victory.
A brilliantly even attack from Puckapunyal Wanderers highlighted the difference between three and four when Puckapunyal dismantled Alexandra by six wickets.
Alexandra was sent in to bat at Shell Green Reserve after losing the toss, making a paltry 62.
Wanderers bowlers Trevor Tandy (4-7) and Ryan Britten (3-16) led the charge, before an unbeaten 27 from skipper Steven Mott helped the home side successfully chase down Alexandra's total.
Rounding out results, Kilmore defeated Avenel by eight wickets with bowlers Mathew Buggy (4-4) and James Denney (3-12) starring, while Pyalong beat Royals on forfeit.
