The Bloods found a way to post a strong total of 7-182 after winning the toss and batting first at Vibert Reserve, with Mitch McGrath again the batting star.
McGrath hit 57 to lead the way for his side as Nathan Jones (37) joined him at the crease to put on 78 for the fourth wicket.
Despite Nagambie skipper Mark Nolan producing comfortably his best bowling figures of the season — snaring 5-31 — some late-order hitting from Michael Mandaradoni (28 not out) gave the Bloods hope for an upset victory.
And an upset victory was exactly what they secured thanks to a timeless bowling spell from stalwart Jason Ibbotson.
The quick took 5-23 — including the first four wickets to fall — to rip through the Lakers and help steer his side to a confidence-boosting win.
“It really was the Ibbo of old,” Karramomus captain Stuart Turner said.
“It didn't matter who was facing that spell or how in form they were, they didn't stand a chance.
“TK (Tim Kelly) took two ripping catches in gully as well and when things aren't going your way those are boundaries and they let the pressure off.
“Angus Heslin bowled nine straight and deserved more than one wicket and Mitch, Nathan and Mick were great with the bat.”
The Lakers slumped to 9-83 in the face of Ibbotson's spell and the follow-up work of Lachie Keady (2-40), but Brayden Biggs and Jarryd Shepherd refused to roll over and hand the Bloods the final wicket.
The pairing put on 57 for the last stand before Turner was able to bowl Shepherd for 17, leaving Biggs unbeaten on 57 at the other end.
“I knew a partnership was going to come,” Turner said.
“We were just lucky it came last and not somewhere in the middle to give them a sniff.”
The Lakers have just a nine-point buffer to the chasing pack in seventh, eighth and ninth on the table, while the Bloods have moved into 12th position.
● Nagambie overcame Karramomus by five wickets in C-grade action, with Keith Berry (57 not out), Tom Barnes (43) and Will Ulrich (42) all performing with the pine. Tyler Ritchie (34 not out) was another to score heavily, as the Lakers finished their innings on 5-191.
Ritchie then followed up his earlier efforts in attack, picking up 4-41 as Karramomus fell 19 runs short in their chase.
