CBL | Seymour whipped by Wallan as Viitala stars

By Meg Saultry

In Saturday night’s CBL men's action, Wallan again showed why it is the team to beat this season, whipping Seymour 74-52.

The Blasters had little-to-no answers for a superior first-half showing from the Panthers, but they successfully stifled a more significant loss in an even second half.

Most of the trouble came from former Seymour player Max Viitala (29 points), whose ability to both shoot and rebound made him hard to match up on.

He was joined by Luke Liesegang (12 points), whose height was a major asset for Wallan, as the Panthers ran out to an unassailable 20-point lead at the major break.

Big man Tom O’Connor was a lone shining light for the Blasters, finishing with 23 points.

The Blasters sit fourth on the ladder with a 4-4 record, but face another tough challenge this Saturday when they take on Myrtleford Saints (second, 6-1) at Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre.
