Yea Tigers, who remain undefeated, got the short end of the stick, forced to pull up stumps well on their way to passing Broadford’s total of 9-147 at Yea Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
Winning the toss, the Tigers readied themselves for a run chase and sent Broadford into bat first.
SDCA | Broadford partnership too hard to crack for Eastern Hill
Braden Hickey (29) and Shaun O’Neill (27) led the charge for the visitors, and were supported by solid contributions from the rest of the line-up, with six batsmen scoring double digits.
But it was an even spread of effort from Yea's bowlers too.
Tigers captain Mick Steiner was economical with 2-9, snaring the crucial wickets of Broadford openers Blair Hobba and Mitch Collier back-to-back, while Andrew Chisholm and Corey Malcolm each nabbed two wickets apiece.
Heading into bat, the Tigers soon settled into their innings, with Cam Armstrong (29 not out) and Darcy Pell (37 not out) building a formidable partnership.
But with multiple weather delays, the match was finally called off, the Tigers left sitting on 2-70 from 19 overs.
● Kilmore and Seymour’s battle at Kilmore Recreation Reserve also resulted in a draw, with play suspended late in the match.
Earlier in the day, Kilmore put themselves in a particularly strong position, all out for 179.
Josh Buttler continued his good form with the bat, scoring 56 while Jacob Walton posted a handy total of 36.
Seymour’s Brodey Pointon snared late wickets in Ben Tresize and Connor McLeod to finish his bowling stint with 2-2, while Lachlan Drummond and Dan Fountain did damage higher up the order with two wickets each.
