Riders from as far afield as Adelaide, Mildura, Broken Hill, the Riverina and a strong contingent from the Hunter Valley will converge on Broadford to do battle in 12 junior classes and ten senior classes of competition.
Throughout the classes there appears to be a number of interesting battles looming, often a battle between experience and youth.
Host club for the championship meeting is the Harley Club of Victoria and club president Richard Loft was delighted his club again had the opportunity to host the event.
“The interest in this title meeting is very pleasing and again we have attracted a good-sized contingent of interstate riders to the meeting, giving us a line-up full of quality and quantity,” he said.
Host club rider Bradley Burns won the Pro 250 class at the Australian Senior Track Championships at Mildura in August and will be out to add to his record this weekend.
Angus Hutchinson and Wade O’Keefe from the Hunter Valley (NSW) and Ned Faulkhead from Mildura are among his opposition, as well as Harley club-mate Max Berry.
This weekend will be Max’s first senior meeting, just days after his 16th birthday.
Harley Club riders Jessie Davies, Bryce Holmes and Brendan McCowat, plus Jason Richards from Wagga Wagga are among a group of riders who will be kept busy riding in several classes.
Former international speedway rider Dakota North will also be in action at the event.
Albury-Wodonga teenager Tayla Street is the hot favourite for the women’s class, and she will also take on competitors in several of the open classes.
There will also be a slider class, the dirt track sidecars, plus classes for older bikes and older riders.
Junior racing will showcase the future of the sport with three winners and numerous place-getters from last month’s Australian Junior Dirt Track Championship meeting at Somersby, NSW heading to Broadford.
Albury-Wodonga rider Archie McDonald, Lachlan Russell from the Central Coast and Thomas Bullen from Kurri Kurri will be joined by previous champion Cameron Dunker, also from Kurri Kurri, Noah Grabham from Forbes and Remmie Fyffe from Albury-Wodonga.
Zane Kinna and Michael Cogdell, who crashed at the Australian Championship meeting, will carry the Harley Club hopes, while riders from Mildura, the ACT and Forbes make for a geographically widespread junior competition.
Spectators can take in the action at Broadford on both days with free admission.
On Saturday, practice commences at 9.15am followed by the first round of competition, while on Sunday it will be straight into racing at 9am, culminating in presentations at around 3.30pm.
