Steady as it flows for river management

River concerns: Rising water levels in the Murray River at Echuca are serving as a warning for potential late winter-spring flooding. Increased rainfall and wet catchments have forced the Murray-Darling Basin Authority to release water from the Hume Dam, which is at 91 per cent capacity. The release of water has impacted visibly on Murray River water levels and with rainfall predicted for the northern states in coming weeks the threat of flooding has been raised on the MDBA website. Murray-Darling Basin Authority has been given a pass mark by the Inspector General of Water Compliance Troy Grant after he delivered his findings from an investigation into the management of the Murray River.
