Held along the scenic Edward/Kolety River, the event will once again be based at Memorial Park showgrounds, which coordinator Andrew Jefferies says is looking better than ever thanks to recent upgrades.
“National Parks and Wildlife Service did a really good job on the roads and boat ramp in the forest behind Memorial Park; it looks really good,” he said.
This year’s Challenge promises more than $30,000 in prizes, including a major entry prize, a boat and motor package from Deniliquin Yamaha valued at more than $12,000.
All registered anglers are eligible to win, with several minor entry prizes also on offer.
The major raffle, drawn on Sunday, features a Sea Jay 3.5m Nomad Boat with a 15hp Yamaha motor and trailer as first prize, and a Yamaha YFZ50 kids quad bike as second prize.
Adult entry is $155, and juniors under 15 as of February 1, 2026, can register for $110.
Juniors may also enter the adult section by purchasing an adult ticket.
Each ticket includes access to the Dash for Cash Fishing Challenge on Sunday, plus five meals across the weekend, provided by Café 100 and the Rotary Club of Deniliquin.
On Friday, the community is invited to a lively evening at HQ featuring the Mega Raffle, a charity auction, food trucks, a bar, kids’ activities, and the ever-popular yabby races.
Mr Jefferies expects the races to be a major drawcard again this year, joking “it’s got to be the most expensive yabby race in the country”.
The Friday night auction will benefit Navorina Aged Care, with funds going toward the creation of a ‘river area courtyard’ a tranquil outdoor space overlooking the river for residents to enjoy.
“We look forward to getting the biggest crowd down there.”
Fish releases are planned in the lead-up to the event, using proceeds of previous events, to help boost the river’s health and fishing prospects.
To register or buy tickets online, visit www.edwardfishingchallenge.com.au and head to the ‘Book Now’ section.
Hard copy entry forms are available at Deni Outdoors & Camping, and raffle tickets can be purchased from a range of businesses across Deniliquin.
