With Rowan Lonsdale taking the reins, Elmore CFA now has.
Following in the footsteps of his father Ian and late grandfather Garnet “Garnie” Lonsdale, Rowan took on the role from Tim Hunter at the brigade awards and handover night on Saturday, August 30.

“Whilst I've been captain, he's been instrumental in assisting me as first lieutenant,” Mr Hunter said.
“It’s his turn to have a go now.”
Rowan was one of 10 volunteers congratulated on the night with a long service medal, which recognised his 40 years of service.
Ian was recognised for 65 years of service, along with CFA life membership.

Garnie set up the family’s legacy.
“Garnie Lonsdale was the original ... he (was) a charismatic Elmore personality,” Mr Hunter said.
“I imagine it wouldn't be an all that common thing for three generations to run through like that.”
Along with the Lonsdale family, there were many contributions celebrated at the dinner.

Long service medals were awarded to:
• third lieutenant, peer support officer and Whipstick group occupational health and safety officer Lisa Cleland for 10 years’ service;
• community engagement officer, community safety co-ordinator and communication officer Jess Meanley for 10 years’ service;
• Diane Hoare for 10 years’ service;
Treasurer and chair Ken Wills receives his 45-year service medal and CFA life membership from District 2 Commander Hugh Kelly.
• health and safety co-ordinator Ray Wedd for 20 years’ service;
• captain Rowan Lonsdale for 40 years’ service;
• second lieutenant and fire equipment maintenance officer Paul Maber for 40 years’ service, along with CFA life membership and Elmore brigade life membership;
• fourth lieutenant Darren Trewick for 40 years’ service;
• former secretary Bruce Anderson for 60 years’ service, along with CFA life membership.
