The scholarship is available to registered midwives who undertake a postgraduate Diploma of Nursing Science in Child Family Community or equivalent at an accredited tertiary institution.
The selection criteria is based on Australian citizenship or residency status, living in Moira Shire or a surrounding municipality, being a registered nurse and midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, being enrolled in relevant tertiary courses, and having an intention to complete the course within two years.
Moira Shire Mayor Libro Mustica said maternal and child health (MCH) nurses played a vital role in the community.
“Council has been offering this scholarship for more than four years now, and each scholarship recipient has stayed and worked locally after completing their studies which is a wonderful result,” he said.
“The team of MCH nurses at council are highly professional health practitioners who give information, support and advice on a variety of topics including parenting, development and learning, child health, family health and wellbeing, safety, immunisation, breastfeeding, nutrition and family planning.”
For more information, visit Moira Shire Council website or phone 5871 9222. Applications close on Friday, November 18.
