The Cobram centre has been transformed into Australian-themed “forest of protection”, creating a friendly environment for children to receive their vaccination.
Children who go to the centre for a vaccination will get a showbag of goodies including a colouring book from First Nations artist Emma Bamblett, colouring pencils, stickers and fidget spinners.
They can also place a leaf with their name on the “eucalyptus vaccination tree” that grows with each child vaccinated.
NCN Cobram direction of clinical services Carolyn Hargreaves said there has been a strong demand for children’s vaccination.
"Since Tuesday our team in Cobram has vaccinated approximately 120 children,“ she said.
“Our nurse immunisers are trained and experienced and our site is decorated in a forest theme making the process as smooth as possible.”
Lawson Greatorex, 5, from Barooga, received his vaccination on January 13 and said his vaccination wasn’t too bad.
“I didn’t feel the needle, but my arm was a bit sore later.”
Lawson said the best bit was getting the fidget spinner as a reward.
NCN Health is vaccinating anyone who is now due for their booster doses.
Appointments are available at the Cobram clinic at 1 O’Dwyer St and at popup clinics at Yarrawonga Health and NCN Health Nathalia and Numurkah.
