That’s why Ricegrowers Association of Australia Landcare has partnered with local businesses and organisations to host a Community Connection Day in Deniliquin.
The initiative was identified during the recent Connecting Community to Connect to Country Project.
Support has been received from the Southern Riverina Regional Drought Resilience Planning Program, with funding from the Federal Government's Future Drought Fund and the NSW Government.
Our partners include the Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre, Western Murray Land Improvement Group and the Edward River Council.
The event begins at 1pm with time for some light lunch, with proceedings starting 1.20pm and concluding about 4pm.
RGA policy and project manager Neil Bull said the day aims to support and build resilience in the community.
“It will discuss the outcomes from a previous community connection project and will highlight the diverse range of groups and organisations that contribute to the Edward River community to make it the great place it is to live,” he said.
“A key highlight will be to hear from a cross section of community champions discussing collaboration and connection in the areas they work.”
In preparing for the day, Edward River Council has collected details from various groups and organisations to showcase during the event.
If you are a member of a club or organisation that has not been contacted, attending this event will provide an opportunity to have the details recorded for inclusion for future community collaboration-connection activities.
While attendance is free, registrations are required to assist with catering.
