The Tungamah Social Club are at it again, out there supporting worthy causes.
This time they have thrown their support behind twenty-two-year-old, new addition to the Tungamah community Ben Humphreys and his mammoth effort to raise money for Canteen. Canteen is a cancer support group supporting 12-25 year-olds dealing with their own diagnosis, a close family member's cancer or the death of a loved one.
To raise money, Ben pulled a car 15 kilometres around the township of Tungamah, where he was supported by the local community. Social Club president Greg Ford presented Ben with a cheque for $500.
Ben was very grateful for the generous donation from the Social Club as well as all other donations. The Social Club with support from the Tungamah Hotel provided a sausage sizzle on the day, as well as selling raffle tickets for Ben’s cause.
With assistance from the Social Club and donations on the day $972 was taken, adding to Ben’s total which sits just over $3000.
President Greg Ford said that the Social Club was more than happy to help Ben.
“What an amazing young man, out there raising money in a very unique way for such an important cause,” Greg said.
“Of course we were happy to donate to Ben and assist on the day.”
The Social Club raised $43,848 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal this year, also gave a donation to Friends in Common of $1000 last week and are currently raising funds for Variety Kids.
Tungamah Social Club is a non-profit organization raising money for the Royal Children’s Hospital, local charities and community members in need, for over thirteen years.
