Swim State formed at Assumption College in Kilmore after its members forged friendships through a shared passion for music.
Beau Farrell (Lancefield), Xavier Kelly (Broadford), Josh Ryan, Liam Walker (both Kilmore) and Harry Palmer (Tahbilk) make up the band, with each juggling their music commitments with VCE.
Under the guidance of music teacher Matt Jennings, a professional musician, Swim State recently competed in the Kilmore Busking Championships, winning the People's Choice Award and finishing second overall.
"To see the boys progress the way they have is a real credit to the commitment they have made to their music,“ Mr Jennings said.
“They definitely have talent in spades and knit well together. I am really confident that they can kick some goals from here."
Swim State has been invited to support rising Melbourne punk rockers Romero at the Northern Republic gig and will unveil some original songs at the all-ages, alcohol and smoke-free event.
The show starts at 5pm with free return bus from Kilmore, Seymour and Avenel.
