Tuesday was the standout, dropping 29.2mm of water on Deniliquin in 24 hours, 43.6mm in Kerang and 40.8mm in Shepparton.
The NSW towns received noticeably less from the rain that fell from Monday to Wednesday across northern Victoria and the southern Riverina.
The wettest town overall was Strathbogie, which enjoyed 60.8mm from the weather.
But private citizens were reporting different totals out of their backyard rain gauges.
Stanhope dairy farmer Graeme Nurse recorded 78mm on his farm and said he was adjusting to the rain, but not complaining.
Strathbogie beef farmer Chris McGregor recorded 56mm on her own farm.
“I reckon I can see the green tips already,” Ms McGregor said on Wednesday as the sunshine came out.
“It was fantastic and we’ve all got big smiles on our faces. It gave the pasture a really good drink and it was a relief really because it was drying off and it was becoming concerning.”
Down the other end of the region is Darren Gurnett, who farms in Kerang.
“I’d sowed all the pasture and was waiting for a rain to do the vetch and barley mixture,” Mr Gurnett said.
“We got 54mm here, but a friend on the other side of Swan Hill recorded 108mm.”
Mr Gurnett said if the predication of another inch this week came true, it would be perfect.
