Budding artists aged 12 to 24 are invited to take part in a youth graffiti workshop as part of Youth Week, which falls in the first half of the school holidays.
The workshop will run over four days focussing on teaching students how to design, create, paint and showcase their work, culminating in a permanent mural on a wall of the Wallan Youth Room.
Mitchell Shire Council’s youth services team is offering the youth graffiti workshop thanks to $2000 in Victorian Youth Week funding through the Victorian Government.
The workshop will be held at Wallan Youth Room on June 28, 29 and 30 and July 2.
If you like robotics or the thought of creating a rollercoaster, there is a program that can help you combine the two.
The Goldberg Program is a hands-on initiative that combines coding, building, problem solving, engineering and creative thinking. Aimed at 10 to 14-year-olds, the Goldberg Program will be held from 10.30 am until 3 pm on June 30, at the Kilmore Library. Bookings essential.
Children aged 3-5 can don a smock, grab a paintbrush, and create some artwork to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
Activities will be held at 10.30 am on July 7 at Broadford Library and Kilmore Library, 10.30 am on July 8 at Greater Beveridge Community Centre - Library and 10.30 am on July 9 at Seymour Library and Wallan Library.
For those who have been jamming on some original tracks, check out the pop-up recording studio at the Wallan Youth Room from July 5-11. You can record original music, shoot a video clip and receive feedback from Universal Music Group.
If you’d like to try an online cooking class join Anne-Marie Bonneau the Zero Waste Chef for a cook-along from noon on July 3. In this fun-filled webinar, you’ll be making fried rice using ingredients you have at home. Go shopping in your own pantry, reduce food waste and packaging while saving money and time.
Mitchell Shire has some great places to enjoy in the great outdoors, with several walking, cycling and horse-riding tracks and trails to explore. Monument Hill Reserve and the Kilmore hospital Reservoir Bridge were damaged in last week’s storms and are currently closed.
Mitchell Shire also has a host of local parks to enjoy, so pack a picnic and meet friends for an afternoon outdoors.
Take the kids for a play, walk the dog, or grab your scooter or skateboard and head to a local skate park.
To find a park or playground, big or small, head to the Near Me page on the Mitchell Shire Council website.
