Prince of Wales Hotel owner Elise Adams said shutting the doors to the popular pub was one of the hardest things she has ever had to do.
The business had to let go of most of its 20 casual staff when the coronavirus shutdown forced its closure in March.
“It really hurts to have to break up our tight-knit community here at the hotel,” Ms Adams said.
“It’s very, very hard for everyone in the community. I worry what’s going to happen to Seymour and district.
“We’re sad to see our doors shutting indefinitely but it is what’s best for the community in this rough time.”
The silver lining for the community is the hotel’s popular meals are available for takeaway and home delivery to ensure locals get their fix of quality pub food while isolated.
Delivery is available from 6 pm to 8 pm, Monday to Saturday, with free delivery on orders of $40 or more and a free garlic bread for orders of $50 or more. Drinks can also be ordered with meals.
“The future is very uncertain because takeaway and home delivery is the only income we have at the moment,” Ms Adams said.
“It’s been a slow start but I’m hopeful people will get behind it to keep us going.
“Seymour and district has to pull together in this tough time to make sure everyone and their businesses come out the other side.”
The takeaway and home delivery menu is available on the Prince of Wales Hotel Seymour Facebook page.
