BlazeAid works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires and floods.
Working alongside the rural families, volunteers help to rebuild fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed.
Equally important, volunteers also help to lift the spirits of people who are often facing their second or third flood event after years of drought, or devastating losses through bushfires.
BlazeAid volunteers work in a disaster-affected area for many months, not only helping individuals and families, but also helping rebuild the local communities.
Seymour Rotarian Denis Kennedy was part of the Irymple Rotary team that organised the collection and shipping of surplus pine posts from vineyards to bushfire ravaged areas to rebuild exterior fences after Black Saturday.
Mr Kennedy realised Seymour and district had many wineries and vineyards and, consequently a similar supply of pine posts available.
“We’ve already had a great response from locals wanting to pitch in. People in Seymour and district have always been generous in times of need,” Mr Kennedy said.
“But the impact in the disaster areas is huge and the more posts we can get the better. BlazeAid do very important work helping people who have lost everything.
“I encourage the community to continue digging deep and support this worthy cause.”
