The free event – being held in conjunction with Hume City Council and City of Whittlesea – aims to help inspire people to learn and share information while expanding networks.
Presentations will be given on rabbit and pest animal control, protecting waterways and increasing biodiversity on your property and in your garden, how to develop a land management plan for your property and weed identification and integrated control.
People who express an interest in land management will receive a laminated aerial photo of their property to assist in developing an individual property management plan.
Euroa Arboretum’s Cath Olive will present about how a land management plan can benefit property, while Chilean Needle Grass guru Charles Gretch will offer a hygiene demonstration.
The Gecko Clan Network will also share their learnings from a community rabbit control program the Granite Creek Project, Euroa.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said land management was a key component for residents in Mitchell Shire.
“We are a peri-urban council region. Many people own land and combat weeds, pests and a number of other challenges,” he said.
“I am a farmer myself so to see land management forums come to our area and assist is something I am very excited to see.
“Gaining a different perspective on how people manage land can be rewarding for anyone who is tasked with land management.”
The Land Management Forum will be held at Greater Beveridge Community Centre on November 16 from 9.45am to 3pm.
