This year’s theme is responsible pet ownership – one of council’s key pillars in the Domestic Animal Plan.
Ensuring your dog and cat is registered is important and provides council with every opportunity to get them home.
If residents’ dogs or cats aren’t currently registered, council is offering registration for the special reduced pet expo price of $5.
This registration will expire on April 10, 2020.
Dogs and cats must be microchipped in Mitchell Shire.
Microchipping will also be available for dog and cat owners. The Northern Veterinary Clinic will be providing this service for the special price of $35.
If your pet is microchipped and you are not sure if your details are up to date, council will have rangers available to scan and provide the microchip number and instructions on how to update your details.
There will be demonstrations from local trainers from Alfoxton Dog Centre and Refine your Canine Dog Training, as well as a display from Mitchell Agility Dogs.
Other free activities include face painting, jumping castle, a petting zoo and more.
The day celebrates the importance of pets in society, the social benefits to family, community and people of all ages.
The event is on November 16 at Hadfield Park, Wallan, from 10am.
