This year, race-goers can look forward to cheering on a quality cup field, while enjoying family entertainment for children big and small in between races.
The funding will go towards children’s activities including pony rides and face painting, live music from Cam Tapp, free shuttle buses, fashions on the field and discounted online entry tickets.
The Seymour Racing Club is contributing more than $16,000, and Country Racing Victoria is providing $5000 for the massive event.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the state government was tipping in the funds from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund to support the much-loved event.
“What better way to showcase the best of our region than at the Seymour Cup, which has something for race-goers, punters and the whole family,” Ms Symes said.
“Races like the Seymour Cup are so important to thriving regional communities like Seymour, where the whole town benefits.
“That’s why we’re getting on with backing them so they continue to bring communities together for years to come.”
Seymour Racing Club chief executive Penny Reeve said the cup was the highlight of the club’s racing calendar.
“We are grateful for the support of the government to bring it back to its rightful place and ensure it continues as an iconic raceday here in Seymour,” she said.
