ENROLMENTS for Kyabram Municipal Preschool, Unwin St Preschool and Girgarre Community Kindergarten are set for June 1, with the application process to feature several changes as a result of COVID-19.
All applications for the 2021 school year must be completed on the Kyabram Preschool Management Committee (KPMC) website, with open days to go online as well.
KPMC human resources admin manager Tania Chiswell said while the complete shift to online was not originally part of the plan, parents and guardians would still be offered all the help and information they needed from KPMC’s educators.
“Open days will look a little different this year with virtual tours and pictures of each preschool to allow families to view the preschools during the pandemic. These will be available online via our website and via Zoom sessions for group bookings or individual,” she said.
“These Zoom sessions will provide the opportunity to see the facilities and programs that each preschool offer. You will also be able to see the teachers and the learning environment.
“If you have any concerns about what type of program will best meet your child’s needs, or whether your child is ready to attend funded kindergarten, please chat with our early childhood educators as they are a fantastic source of information and support so you can make an informed decision.”
The enrolment application period for three-year-old and four/five-year-old kinder programs will run from June 1, 2020 until June 30, 2021.
“Kyabram and district is extremely fortunate in the variety and standard of high-quality early childhood educational programs available to our community,” Ms Chiswell said.
“Parents and guardians are often unaware of the difference in the programs offered at the different centres prior to enrolment. The types of incursions, excursions, special days and activities will vary dependent upon the philosophy and routines of the early childhood centre.”
