Colt gets the Yes vote from Glen Boss

By AAP Newswire

Glen Boss will have his first ride in the $14 million Everest and is excited to be aboard Yes Yes Yes, the lone three-year-old in the race.

Trainer Chris Waller chose the colt for his stable's slot and will also saddle up Arcadia Queen who runs for The Star and Nature Strip who competes for James Harron.

Arcadia Queen and Yes Yes Yes both galloped between races at Randwick on Saturday.

Jason Collett filled in for race jockey James McDonald in Arcadia Queen's work-out with the latter riding in Melbourne while Boss got to sit on Yes Yes Yes's back for the first time.

Boss, who rode the Waller-trained Kolding to win the Group One Epsom Handicap last Saturday week, was enamoured with Yes Yes Yes.

"He's a strapping colt. He has a real presence about him and a cool demeanour," he said.

"He covers ground with no effort and to tell the truth he makes me a bit goose bumpy."

Recent Group One Moir Stakes winner Nature Strip, who will be ridden by Tim Clark, galloped at Rosehill on Monday.

Arcadia Queen and Yes Yes Yes will have another maintenance gallop on Wednesday.

The 12-horse field was finalised on Sunday when Godolphin confirmed Trekking would take the Melbourne Racing Club's slot for winning the Schillaci Stakes a day earlier.

Godolphin also runs star mare Alizee in its own slot.

There were 19 entries taken on Monday for the Sydney Stakes with any substitutes to be sourced from that field if there are any Everest scratchings.

Last year, Godolphin's Osborne Bulls replaced Home Of The Brave and ran a slashing third.

Home Of The Brave is among the Sydney Stakes nominations.

The past two winners of the Sydney Stakes, Pierata (2018) and In Her Time (2017) are in the Everest field this year.

The Kris Lees-trained In Her Time will have a solid work-out on her home track, Newcastle, on Tuesday morning.

The barrier draw for the Everest will take place on Tuesday evening in a light show with the colours to be beamed on to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
