But for hard-nosed Murray Bushrangers co-captain Nick Quigg, returning to the senior line-up with his home town team Seymour has been nothing short of a breeze in 2022.
Featuring in three GVL matches before last week’s clash with Benalla, Quigg had shown he was well and truly up to the rigours of senior football, slotting straight into the Seymour midfield and averaging an impressive 19.3 disposals, 2.7 clearances and 1.3 goals.
You could just about sense a breakout game was coming at senior level.
And on Saturday afternoon at the Benalla Showgrounds, the young gun delivered with an epic performance in Seymour’s gritty 39-point win over the Saints.
On a day dominated by the Benalla return of former AFL star Jarrad Waite, 18-year-old Quigg didn’t shy away from the occasion as he went to work around the contest.
