Currently sitting in seventh spot on the ladder, the Lions have to take care of business themselves and then rely on other results to go their way if they are to feature in September.
And it all begins against a struggling Tatura at Kings Park this weekend.
Seymour enters the clash as the red-hot favourite and coach Ben Davey will be hoping for a repeat of his team’s last meeting against the Bulldogs in round 10, where it dominated all game to run away a 101-point winner.
It was the Lions’ defence that garnered all the headlines on the day, keeping a hapless Tatura to just one goal as it gave its own percentage a healthy boost.
But the scoreboard doesn’t tell the full story, so through the power of GVL Data we have decided to delve into what exactly led to Seymour’s demolition job at Tatura Park.
Unsurprisingly, it was through the midfield where the Lions truly got the upper hand.
In about as dominant a performance you are likely to see from an on-ball group, Seymour won the contested possession count by a whopping 27, clearances by six, ground-ball gets by 21 and tackles by 19.
