Rutherglen have enhanced their status as top dog in Section 1 after they trounced Everton Blue and in doing so, taught them a tennis lesson. Rutherglen were superior from the outset and with their standard of play it was clear
to see why they top the Section 1 ladder. Everton were gifted a late set to avoid a humiliating whitewash. Lindsay Seymour, Sarah Rae & Helen Fuge were outstanding for Rutherglen while Ruth Kneebone, Stacey Thomas &
Robert Voss battled away tirelessly for Everton. Corowa were unstoppable against Wahgunyah on Saturday and demonstrated to Wahgunyah what is required to compete at the highest level of NERTA. Corowa won the first 3 sets but they
were made to fight for all the points by a determined Wahgunyah team, unfortunately Wahgunyah's resistance had been broke and Corowa went from strength to strength after the initial Wahgunyah onslaught and went on to record a
convincing victory. Corowa's best were Jo Brooks, Claire Davidson & Darrell Spencer while Mareeta Corcoran, Jesse Johnstone & Ethan Palmer flew the flag for Wahgunyah.
Section 2
Myrrhee have finally returned from the wilderness with a comfortable win over Hardcourt Pulvirenti on Saturday. Myrrhee have had a string of disappointing results recently but Saturday saw them return to the form that has seen
them as perennial finalists, Hardcourt didn't quite live up the high expectations that they have display lately. Hardcourt were up against the odds early after losing 5 of the first 6 sets from which they never recovered,
while Myrrhee piled on the pressure to ensure Hardcourt never had a chance of making a contest of it. Myrrhee had none better than Cathy Van Berlo. Robyn Oliver & Dylan Van Berlo. Chris Lestino, Ray Munari, Tomo Moriya &
Matilda Dean were Hardcourt's best. Everton Red continued their march towards the finals with another confidence boosting win over Boorhaman. Everton didn't have it all their own way though, for most of the match Boorhaman were
within striking distance but just couldn't find the luck to provide a momentum swing their way. Everton always had the answers when it counted amd managed to record an easy victory. Everton Red were best served by Jenny Cooper,
Jeff Carboon & Steve Russell while Boorhaman's Shirley Fuller, Sally O'Donoghue & Dale Robinson ensured the match was close.
Section 3
Wahgunyah Deep Heat (Josh Reid, Jacob Palmer, Katie Bergin, Kath Blake) have put themselves in the hunt for the final position on the ladder when they upset their nearest rivals for that position Wahgunyah Wranglers (Wayne Johnstone, Sonia Plamer,
Alison Bartel, Jaxx Johnstone). The scoreline (5-1) indicates a comfortable victory for Deep Heat but most sets were close and competitive and with a little more composure when it counted, Wranglers could have reversed the result but Deep Heat
showed enough to suggest the last position will be a battle. Wahgunyah Wahnation (Ollie Struve, Kane Palmer, Andrew Palmer, Josh Parker) dented Wooragee's (Skip Peiper, Dean Bensted, Keely Maher, Eiylish McRostie) finals aspirations, but not completely
destroyed them as they remain within touching distance of fourth position on the ladder. Wahgunyah United (Brian Jones, Dave Harris, Rob Hill, Clara Davis) have emerged as a genuine threat to Wahnation's domination of Section 3 with a
convincing win over Boorhaman (Darby Parr, Jack Keys, Merryn Bynre, Kirsty Tyers). Boorhaman have 3 matches left to redeem themselves and put themselves in a position to challenge the top 2 teams.
