With the result beyond reasonable doubt by three-quarter-time, it was up to Nagambie (now 3-1) to find its own challenge in the lopsided match.
‘‘You’ve got to go in to those games with a mindset to get something out of it,’’ Nagambie coach Anthony Haysom said.
‘‘We focused on different set-ups and found we could still work hard enough, even with the ball moving one way.’’
And it was a clinic inside 50 for the Lakers, with trio Ben Hutton (seven goals), Dan Fitzpatrick (five) and Mitch Sanderson (five) combining to sink the boot into Ardmona’s defensive line.
‘‘Ben and Dan, along with Mitch, have put together a couple of good solid weeks,’’ Haysom said.
‘‘They had plenty of opportunities to practise their marks and set shots on the weekend.’’
With several teams finding it difficult to build momentum in the early part of the season due to byes or public holidays, Haysom said Nagambie was no different.
But after interleague this weekend, the Lakers’ next four games will see them take on Murchison-Toolamba, Longwood, Undera and Stanhope.
‘‘We’ve got a few to come back in for Murchison, so we should have a fairly full-strength side,’’ Haysom said.
‘‘It’ll be nice to put a good stretch of tough games together.’’

●In the reserves, Nagambie demolished Ardmona by 212 points to record its first win of the season. Dan Hall booted nine goals for the Lakers, while midfielder Michael Sloan kicked four in a best-on-ground performance.
●Meanwhile, Nagambie’s Under 18 team remains undefeated after it beat Ardmona 6.12 (108) to 5.7 (37). Nick Glentzes was named best on ground for a second consecutive week, while Mitchell Lusted kicked six goals.
