Avenel’s Kasey Duncan is gearing up for his fourth straight interleague match this weekend, but for the Swans’ playing coach, there’ll be the added responsibility of first-time coach.
Duncan will join Jason Milne from Murchison-Toolamba to coach the Kyabram District Interleague senior football team in its match against Golden Rivers FNL at Central Park Reserve, Shepparton East this Saturday.
‘‘It’s a good challenge, I quite enjoy interleague,’’ Duncan said.
Duncan was assistant coach in last season’s interleague match and, faced with the prospect of heading up the squad this year, said he was happy to do the job.
‘‘The coaching experience will benefit me in the long run,’’ he said.
Duncan will have the added advantage of leading several of his teammates into battle.
Avenel’s Kyle Maynard, Braydon Ayola, Dean Giles, Michael Tinkler and Harry McLean, along with Nagambie midfielder David Price, will line up against the Golden Rivers team.
A further five Nagambie players were selected for the interleague squad but were unavailable for the match.
