The Seymour youth girls under-18 team has finally kicked a ball and started the 2019 season with their first live game against the Tatura Bulldogs.
The team has received tremendous support, and many thanks must go to the three football clubs in the town, the Kings Park COM and to the corporate supporters who have been proactive in helping ensure the team has the resources it needs to operate.
To Luke Crozier at Seymour Maccas and the Dove family at Seymour Toyota thank you for your generous support.
The result on Sunday was more than a new team could hope for with the Lions winning by more than 17 goals.
In a very open game with both clubs only having 14-a-side, the Lions were too physical and too well-organised for the Bulldogs.
Chloe Locke, acting captain for the day, kicked seven goals and the rampaging left foot of Lucy Dawe slotted goals reminiscent of Dom Sheed.
Monique Purchase, also in her first game, too had the ball under control as did the Merrifield twins, the Seal sisters and the new cult figure, Freyja Parker.
The only concern the team had was knowing the words to the song; but that too was quickly organised.
If there’s any issue with the fantastic win it’s that there’s more room in the team for other girls to join in the fun and the fitness.
So please enquire to anyone involved at Seymour Junior Football Netball Club.
The team’s next game is against the powerful Shepparton United outfit.
