Seymour Bowling Club’s Goulburn Valley weekend pennant division seven side closed out a 10-shot win against local rivals Seymour VRI in Saturday’s grand final.
After coming home with medals around their necks, the team was congratulated by the club for the great year they put in, culminating with the win against neighbours, Seymour VRI.
Every game was played in good spirits through the year and all members of the team are to be congratulated, including those who did not play yesterday for one reason or another.
The teams came home to Seymour to celebrate their premiership.
Anita Stevenson, Alison Ridley, Margaret Flynn, Vin Hall (s) 23 def S. McGregor 19;
Shane Stevenson, Pat Dawe, John Heywood, Derek Blakeman (s) 25 def W. Flint 19.
Division five was not so fortunate in their grand final, playing Tallygaroopna at Dookie.
What a great game. The margin between the teams all afternoon was only a few shots up or down.
This continued for the entire match, but when the last of the 75 ends was played, Tallygaroopna had won by two shots.
The Seymour team can hold their heads high for their tenacity, good play and mostly for their sportsmanship.
However, this did not give them a premiership for 2019.
The club apologises for the wrong report in last week’s Telegraph. The winners of the club mixed pairs were Alison Hall and Graeme Flint. Congratulations to you both.
The remaining club games to be played are the 100-up and the club fours. Please read the notice board.
There is still limited time to join the football competition if you would like to participate. Please read the details at the clubhouse and enter your name on the sheet provided.
The first game is tomorrow, so please put your name in quickly. Plenty of fun and plenty of money to be won.

A large number of supporters also travelled to Dookie to give the VRI team the support, but although both teams scored an equal number of winning ends the opposition team used their shots to advantage.
At the halfway mark the opposition were 13 shots up, and both VRI rinks played a competitive second half to be 10 shots down at the end of the game without winning a rink.
Congratulations to the Seymour team as they were too good on the day and VRI 38 lost to Seymour 48.
Stephen McGregor’s rink lost six shots over two ends with the team seven shots down at the 10th end, struggling to keep the opposition from scoring the team were 11 shots down at the 16th then started to pick up some shots over the next four ends with the deficit cut to five shots at the 20th.
Scoring four shots over the last two ends made the score more respectable, going down by four shots.
Wayne Flint’s rink took an early lead but the scores were levelled at the 10th end and the team never had the lead again for the remainder of the game. Chasing score with only single shot wins, the team was six shots down at the 21st end and although scoring three shots on the 23rd end, the opposition also scored three single shots for the deficit of six to remain at the end of the game.
Results: J. Tuckwell, R. Richards, D. Prudden, S. McGregor (skip) 19 lost to V. Hall 23;
A. Walton, A. Nachtigal, H. Flint, W. Flint (skip) 19 lost to D. Blakeman 25.
That is the end of the 2018-19 pennant season, resulting in Seymour VRI playing in four grand finals, winning division two against Kilmore and the midweek grand final against Kilmore.
Runners-up were division one and seven in the Goulburn Valley.
All players concerned should be proud and pleased with their efforts for the season.
The midweek team will play off in a regional championship against Goulburn Valley and Murray Districts at Seymour Bowling Club on Tuesday next week.
