Shepparton musos will deliver a blast from the past at a free live jam session at the Aussie Hotel this Sunday.
The afternoon of music takes place from 1pm to 6pm.
Co-organiser and performer Ken Wong said the idea for the event came after a private party earlier this year.
‘‘It turned out to be great; so much so that everybody involved, performers and audience alike, kept asking when we were going to do it again,’’ Mr Wong said.
‘‘The whole event is simply about having fun and sharing our love of music.
‘‘It will be like a massive jam session and a great opportunity for local musos and people with an interest to get together and enjoy some great music.’’
Performers include Mooroopna songstress Ms River, aka Kelli Howell, Shepparton band The Gypsy Gringos will reunite featuring John O’Sullivan with guest performer Frank Magee, and the duo Varied Heads (better known as Quinny and Shane) will also play.
Mr Wong said the gig would be Quinny and Shane’s first appearance as a duo in more than 20 years, but he added many people would remember them.
‘‘I would think they still hold the record for the longest running continuous Shepparton Sunday session gig in history, which lasted for around seven years in the 90s,’’ Mr Wong said.
He said most of Sunday’s artists would have played a significant role in the Shepparton music scene over the years.
‘‘We are putting together a band especially for the occasion,’’ Mr Wong said.
He will appear with his current duo Shane and the Wong Brother.
