Go Nagambie received $1854 funding for a marquee for use at events, while the historical society received $2216 for temperature control to combat a rising damp problem.
Historical Society committee member Elaine Lodding said the group was thankful for the funding as it allowed volunteers to work in a comfortable space.
‘‘The building is prone to damp and we tried everything to get rid of it. Thanks to the funding it’s now a wonderful space,’’ she said.
‘‘We own the building, so we have to do a lot of fundraising for upgrades and maintenance. So this money is vitally important.’’
Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum said volunteering greatly benefited communities — socially and economically.
‘‘The enormous value of volunteering is estimated at $290billion per year. Australia’s 8.7million volunteers and their organisations are the backbone of community life.
‘‘Volunteers embody the best of our community with thousands of people regularly volunteering their skills, services and time to make life ... better for those around them.
‘‘The Coalition Government’s strong economic management is why we can afford to provide the essential services Australians rely on and support the good work of our volunteers.’’
The current exhibition at the Nagambie Historical Society is a tribute to master dressmaker Amelia Zanussi.
She would create from a drawing, a picture or just a description of the dress required, no patterns were necessary.
