Board Games and Battlegrounds promotes the new and classic pastime of sitting around with friends and family playing games.
Owners Sarah and Shane Barnbrook are excited to have opened their doors.
‘‘Shane has had a passion for board games and hobbies his whole life,’’ Ms Barnbrook said.
‘‘We thought it was a good time and Seymour is a great place to have a store like this.
‘‘It’s a place where people can come together and meet other like-minded people with the same interests.
‘‘Some people don’t have people to play with or they might want to get involved but don’t know how to start. Board Games and Battlegrounds is a place where they can explore the world of gaming.
‘‘It’s also a chance for people to play games they loved as a child and rekindle their old interests.’’
Filling the shelves are board games, card games, collectibles, hobby supplies, puzzles and table-top gaming items, set to ensure shoppers will be browsing up and down the aisles for hours.
The store is an independent retailer for Games Workshop, children’s educational games, Dungeons and Dragons products, Star Wars Legion figurines, Magic the Gathering supplies and more.
Sarah and Shane also have grand plans for their store’s future.
‘‘We’re hoping to run after-school programs for children to come down and enjoy,’’ Ms Barnbrook said.
‘‘We’ve also applied and are in the process for NDIS and we hope to have groups for social skills and a variety of other needs the community might need.
‘‘We will have a games library where people can come in and hire the games.
‘‘And we hope to start different social nights.’’
With heaps of games in almost every category, visitors can discover the world of board games, table-top miniature games, supplies and pop culture products.
‘‘If you’re interested in a game, video game, merchandise or anything else we don’t stock we’re more than happy to order it in for you,’’ Ms Barnbrook said.
‘‘We also have Afterpay services through our website so you can pay for things more easily.’’
Drop in to meet the friendly staff at 4/115 Anzac Ave from 10am to 6pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
