Blue-green algae warning lifted

By Country News

Goulburn-Murray Water has removed the blue-green algae warning for Waranga Basin following a significant decline in blue-green algae levels.

There have been two warnings for blue-green algae at the Waranga Basin since monitoring began, with the most recent warning in place for more than four months.

The first warning occurred for 23 days in early 2017.

G-MW will continue to undertake water-quality monitoring and if blue-green algae reach levels deemed unsafe by national health guidelines, a warning will be issued.

Warnings remain current for Nagambie Lakes, Lake Eppalock, Cairn Curran Reservoir, Tullaroop Reservoir, the Rochester Irrigation area, Channels 7, 8 and 9 in the Central Goulburn Irrigation Area, all Loddon Valley Irrigation Area channels east of the Loddon River and the East Loddon Water District.
